Can A Receiver Upscale Cable Connecting PS3 To Home Theatre?

Connecting PS3 to Home Theatre? - can a receiver upscale cable

I'm considering buying a home theater system with inputs and outputs the following:

Audio (analog) x 1
Audio input (optical) x 1
Line Audio (Coaxial) 1 x
Audio Input (Front, Mini) x 1
Video Signal (Composite) x 1
Video signal (component) x 1
Video signal (S) x 1
Video signal (HDMI - Upscale 1080p for DVD) x 1
DCAC auto calibration
Digital Media Port
Speaker Terminals: Front, Surround, Center / Subwoofer
Headphone: 3.5 mm

The main use of this system is for my PS3. I wonder how you work the cable connections and what they are led by him. I have a fiber optic cable and an HDMI cable handy.

Above all, my confusion about this: IfI, the optical cable to the receiver, which then connects the receiver to the TV? Or do I have the rear and fiber optic cable is the only thing on the receiver for the PS3 and the HDMI connection is still directly into the TV feed?

I just want to make sure I still get high-definition video while using the optical audio before buying the system.

Save some trouble and buy a decent receiver. I know they are more expensive, but why buy a home theater system consists of an amplifier packaged with a DVD player (already)? A corresponding receiver and 5.1 speaker set and get better results there than any HTIB. If you have an HDMI switching receiver was purchased an optical cable and 100% for HDMI audio and video.

To answer your question, you first run the PS3 optical audio home theater and an HDMI connection from the PS3 to the TV for video. Do this and you need both home theater and change input sources from the TV if you want to play with the PS3. Remember to configure your PS3 output audio and video properly.

BANG P Sorry, but what you say is not possible, I tried (Onkyo receiver with SPDIF-in) and the PS3 FAQ clearly says that the two digital outputs can be produced at the same time to connect. Treated exactly the same combination, HDMI and optical output was not in a position to select the optical output on the PS3 menu while I am connected via HDMI. So if you want the video and audio via HDMI, you need a receiver that supports HDMI audio connection is treated, but beware, some systems, repeaters, not mine and processing of the audio through the HDMI cable be transferred.
